Paf Poker Team in Malta .- Mikael Johansson is eliminated in ninth place winning €1400
september 9th, 2009The night came to an end as Mikael put his last chips to the test, AK is a nice hand to do when you do that but again a Paf Player was sent to the rail when he was up against AA. I do not know how many Aces a Maltese deck holds but there is A LOT of pocket rockets being thrown around the felt in this tournament. For example, Italian final table player Max had AA four times in the same period I think.
The play around the table really loosened up when they were down to ten players and I would like to give you Mikaels view on his play but he disappeared after being knocked out. I will meet him up for Sweden – Malta in World Cup Qualifier today so I am sure I will here about it then. On the same final table was an other familiar face, Mikael Lund who played a couple of Paf cruises played really well and was finally knocked out in 8th place raking in €1800 for his troubles. I talked to Mikael a couple of times this tournament and I think he is really happy about being in the money, even though both our mikaels would have won and got the big prize of 13K instead. It wasn´t for them in this tournament and Swedish player Martin Sjöö was instead crowned the Champion of the first ever Malta Poker Challenge. Paf Poker team will definitively return to Malta and that time we will win this!
The tournament is over but there is still a lot of things to tell about. Today is the World cup match and a five hour pre-game warmup with Camp Sweden. A great night to look forward too and I will be back with more photos on Thursday.
Be well my friends

Paf Poker Team in Malta – Paf Poker Team makes another final table
september 8th, 2009Paf Poker Team makes another final table as Mikael skillfully manages to dodge all the bullets at the felt. We are down to the final table now and Mikael sits with about 65K and blinds 2000-4000 and ante 300. The chipleader has about 250K or something right now and more about that soon. First a big congratulation to Mikael Johansson from Åkerberga outside Stockholm. With the final place comes also the happy news that he is now in the money and is now guaranteed at least 700 Euros.
We came to bubble play quite fast as the shorter stacks had to move allin and none really had the luck that is needed to survive. Bubble play played for a while and then all players decided that each position 1-10 should be reduced with 55 euros and the eleventh place finisher should get the buyin of €550 back when knocked out. Very nice of the bigger stacks and a good wibe instantly settled around the table. The play then opened up a bit and the final hand was also the perfect way to end it. Among the chipleaders since day 1 is Anna Colley and she was also involved in this hand. I don’t remember it exactly but either way it ended up with three people being allin and showing, JJ (Swedish player), AA (Maltese player) and QQ (Anna). The flop turn and river gave nothing and it was settled. We were down to ten players and the Maltese player took the lead in the pursuit of the first price of almost 14,000 Euros. And Mikael is one off them.
Now, back to the venue to see how this unfolds

Paf Poker Team in Malta – Mikael doubles up as only 14 is left.
september 8th, 2009Could Mikael Johansson be the next Paf superstar? He surely plays like one right now and he has put his starting 37K to good use and has rushed up to 70K or somewhere in the area of 70. Chip leader is Anna Colley who cant lose a pot, at least that is what is looks like from the rail. 82 offsuit is a perfect calling hand when she eliminated player nr 15 just a few minutes ago. Turn 8, river 2 and it was done.
On the other side of the [asino the Sideevent €200+20 has just started and at least Conny, Juhani and John is playing. I think Rami should be there somewhere but I just can’t seem to find him now. Again the [asino has some really ridiculous rules to where and how the rail is placed. Anyhow, back to the Paf Poker Team Trip.
Today started out quite cloudy and this is a day that everyone has off to do their own things so yours truly took the bus to Sliema to eat in the best Turkish kebab in the world, Millennium Kebab. Fantastic as always and then the sun decided to come through the clouds so I joined the rest of the team on the poolarea here at the Hilton Hotel in Portomasso.
All in all a very nice day so far and with four players again playing there will be things to report about. Good for me, and good for you.
Good luck to Micke who plays perfect poker right now! Top ten is in the money so lets go for that first.
Check back for more updates.

Paf poker Team has one player returning to the felt at Portomasso [asino today. Mikael Johansson has overcome every situation so far and returns today at 15 to play his way trough Top 20.
he sits with about 35K and average is 45K. The leaders have about 120K so there is a little bit of hill to climb, but I am confident that Mikael will handle it good.
Sorry for not blogging last night but the Internet situation is less than perfect here.
The remaing Paf poker Team has a day off today and perhaps some of them will play in the 200+20 consolation tourney starting at 16 today. I know I will NOT play as my pokergame is terrible at the moment.
Conny, Matti and Rami were all knocked out late last night and I will have to get back to what happened, as internet is on its way down again.
Best regards

Paf Poker team in Malta – A final Spade ends the road for Fredrik
september 8th, 2009Both Fredrik and Conny have left the building. Conny was actually gone when I arrived at the [asino but he was so shortstacked so it was bound to happen anyhow. Took me a while to find him and then the dinner break broke up our discussion so don’t know any more about what happened. He is happy now again, sitting at the cashtable and dominates that game. Too bad for Conny though, he had high hopes for this event, Good luck next time Conny, you are a skilful player and a big win it is bound to happen soon.
Also out of the Race is Fredrik who stuck his last chips in against chipleader Anna Colly with a top pair which developed to a two pair on the river. Unfortunately that also meant that Anna hit her runner runner flush… This was Fredriks first ever live tournament and he was probably among the youngest in the field and I am sure it was a good lesson to get and I am also sure we will see more of Fredrik. He is s very nice and positive person and we thank you for participating for us.
it is now down to our last four players to defend the Paf logo at the felt. Matti has lost nearly all his chips and is down to his last few, on the same table is John who sits comfortably with about 17K (which is about average now) Both Mikael and Rami has about the same, 16K and feels slightly nervous avout their own game. Mikael would like to, and needs to, play more hands and Rami feels that he has a very though table. “ – Six Swedes, one maltese, and me at the table. It really feels like it is the toughest table” says Rami. Two positions after Rami sits bracelet winner Anders Henriksson with his rather big chipstack. I agree, it could have been easier Rami.
Chipcounts for Paf poker team
Mikael 16K
Matti ?? Not much
John 17K
Rami 16K
Juhani busted with KK vs AA
Fredrik busted twopair against a rivered flush
Conny Busted
Petteri, busted AK vs flopped trip Jacks
The internet situation has improved enormously since last but it cost me quite a bit. They know how to make money here. Time to get back to work as the players return from the pretty damn good dinnerbreak.
